First of all, the present report aims to contextualize the probationary period completed in Millenniumbcp Ageas, which is an integral part of the curricular plan of the Masters in Banking and Insurance of the Catholic University of Porto. In this context, in an initial approach it will be done an overview of the Millenniumbcp Ageas group and their businesses, and at the end it will be described in more detail all the activities performed during the traineeship. Second, it is intended to give an overview of the economic and demographic issues that currently characterizes most of the countries, including Portugal, and how this new reality affect the proper functioning of the social security systems worldwide and is reflected in State public spending on pensions, who thus are forced to implement a series of reforms to mitigate the impacts resulting therefrom. Then, according to the described scenario and taking into account the savings behavior/investment style of the Portuguese, it will be showed the relevance of Life Insurance products and PPR as the vehicles par excellence for the establishment of an additional income for retirement, while approaching the insurance industry analyzing the growth that has occurred in Life Insurance segment, specifically in the case of Milleniumbcp Ageas. In the end, by applying a series of interviews to personalities with connections to the major segments of the financial sector in Portugal, it will be proved the relevance of this type of products to the insurance industry, for the national economy and to the people in general, and the importance that they have in the benefits funding at retirement.
