In a context of economic crisis and European national growth levels very low, it is crucial for Portuguese companies entering new international markets, in the case of the survival of the companies themselves. Emerging markets appear as profitable in achieving caps and involvement of Portuguese companies in such markets is long recognized. However, the participation of foreign companies in new markets presents enormous challenges, requiring companies to develop appropriate strategies for a successful internationalization. In this context, this work aims to understand what the crucial factors that constitute a solid basis for a successful internationalization and understand how the current economic and financial climate has changed the process of internationalization. The methodology adopted in this study included the preparation of interviews with leaders of the companies selected for the study.
