The present study intends to understand the impact of the technological evolution on the sound effects of horror movies. The data was collected from 35 participants of both sex, with ages between 20 and 33. It was used two instruments – a semistructured interview and a scale of the impact of horror movies (with and without image) – so it could be analised by comparing the feeling of horror and emotional impact transmited by sound effects. So it was considered two hypothesis: “The sound effects increases the impact of horror on the spectator as the technological advances develop” and “The sound effects increases the impact of horror on the spectator when associated with the image of the film”. The results were processed on the program IBM SPSS 20.0. The values obtained show that the impact of the horror movies tend do raise on more recente movies, eventhough the participants state that the technological advances damaged the sound effects on the fields of originality and creativity.
