The mission of this research was to study the relationship between the use of information and communication technologies alongside family functions in families with children aged from three to ten in pandemic period. In order to achieve this goal, we conducted a quantitative,descriptive-correlational study with a sample of 107 (one hundred and seven) families, among parents aged between 25 (twenty-five) and 56 (fifty-six) years, having, the majority of them, female children. Additionally, we used a sociodemographic questionnaire, developed for this study, and two measurement instruments: Emerging Technologies & Families Survey (SETF; Bacigalupe et al., 2014) and Systemic Clinical Outcome and Routine Evaluation (SCORE-15; Stratton et al., 2010), versions adapted for the Portuguese population. The results of this investigation revealed that there are significant differences between gender and video games, concluding that boys use video games more than girls. Statistically significant differences were also found between the mother's educational level and the use of e-mail and social networks; between the educational level of the father and the use of e-mail. Children who belong to a household with an average socioeconomic level have more access to social networks and there are statistically significant differences in the screen time of cellphone/laptop and social networks in function of socioeconomic level. The results also revealed that the greater number of family problems related to the use of ICT, reported by parents, is associated with worse family functioning; the more problems arising from the use of ICT, the less effective communication between family members; the more problems reported, greater the difficulties felt by the family; greater the number of problems arising from the use of ICT, better the perception of their impact on the family. Also, children who attend the 1st CEB use social networks more than children who attend preschool.
