Abstract

The main subject of this study is the differences in the disorder symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and women victims and not victims of intimate partner violence attachment style (IPV); the relationship of the variables under study; predictors of PTSD, whether attachment has a moderating role and a mediator in the relationship between violence and PTSD in a sample of 209 women victims and not victims of IPV. The results indicate that in terms of PTSD symptoms there are significant differences between the female victims of IPV and most anxious attachment in women non-victims that indicate higher linking and dependence. It is concluded that in the presence of higher abuse, greater the probability of developing PTSD symptoms, psychological aggression, physical abuse with squeals and attachment styles anxious and dependence on the most important predictors of PTSD symptomatology. However, the link did not work as a moderator between violence and PTSD symptoms, but proved to be a partial mediator of the relationship between violence and PTSD. It is important to consider attachment in violence prevention, for the construction of intervention programs for female victims of IPV and for the prevention of possible psychopathology cases including PTSD symptoms.
