Abstract

This report, carried out within the scope of the Masters in Music Teaching at Escola das Artes of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, is divided into two sections. Part I - Professional Practice Report, consists on the description of my professional practice carried out in the academic year 2021/22 at ARTAVE, in the areas of specialization of Instrument - Viola d'Arco and Chamber Music. Part II - Pedagogical Intervention Project Report, consists of the presentation of the pedagogical intervention project report whose theme is “The impact of Karen Tuttle's teaching strategies on a natural and balanced violet practice”. This PIP had as main objective the appropriation of some of Karen Tuttle's ideals in order to improve posture, eliminate tensions in the instrumental performance and obtain a better body awareness of the students of one of the Viola d'Arco classes at ARTAVE. The intervention was divided into two separate sessions of forty-five minutes per student, basing the teaching methodology on the ideals of violist and pedagogue Karen Tuttle. This investigation has a qualitative character and is based on an action-research methodology, making use of the collection of images, questionnaires, field notes in a logbook and semistructured interviews as techniques for collecting, producing, analyzing and interpreting techniques.
