Abstract

The news production process has experienced changes over the past few years, and the emergence of new media vehicles introduced new productive routines to journalistic work. Newspapers’ sites try to take advantage of all the Internets’ potential and the path for a convergence journalism is being built. It is important to note that each medium – press, online journalism and television – adapts to its own characteristics, but is shaped especially by the demands of the public, increasingly a broader and participatory agent in these spheres. The media are radically changing the way we communicate and as an example of that we have the way people interact with different media, especially mobile. Tablets and smartphones are gaining ground as an example of communication excellence. These devices enable an increased proximity to information because, although they can be considered fashion accessories, they are tools of personal use and people interact constantly with them. The warning systems for breaking news and other features that allow for customized news content are considered cutting-edge journalism practices. Learning a new media language became imperative to ensure that the information could be received by readers in various platforms. Contents should be adapted and suited to the media in which it is broadcasted. For their part, the journalists follow the public’s needs and particularities, exploring the power of media convergence. The changes in the routines of news production – which have undergone adjustments and restructuring – in diffusion of information and in the forms of their consumption by the audience are consequences of technological advances, observed in journalistic activity.
