O papel da comunicação interna no impacto da liderança nos níveis de criatividade dos colaboradores do Groupe SEB Portugal

Abstract

Considering the increasing importance of leadership, internal communication and creativity for the success of organizations, it is urgent to understand the relationship between these three variables. Derived from this need, this study aims to understand the role of internal communication in the impact of leadership on the creativity levels of Groupe SEB Portugal employees. The sample consists of 62 employees belonging to the different departments of Groupe SEB Portugal. To carry out the study, two exploratory interviews were carried out, one with the Director-General and the other with the Human Resources Manager. In addition, a questionnaire was applied to employees divided into four parts: i) sociodemographic data questionnaire; ii) the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire – 5X (MLQ-5X), to assess the leader's leadership style; iii) an internal communication questionnaire to assess the communication established within Groupe SEB; and iv) the Test of Creative Thinking – Drawing Production (TCT-DP) to assess employees' creativity levels. As main results, it is possible to highlight that the employees evaluated the leader as transformational, presented high levels of good internal communication and presented higher levels of creativity compared to the Portuguese population. Furthermore, statistically significant correlations were found between leadership and internal communication, but no statistically significant correlations were found between leadership and creativity and between internal communication and creativity. In future studies, it would be important to clarify why the hypotheses related to creativity were not confirmed as indicated in the literature.
