Abstract
The Portuguese wine sector, grounded in a rich centuries-old tradition, finds itself at a moment of potential transformation through Blockchain technology. This research explores how this emerging technology can modernise the sector, focusing particularly on its potential to enhance transparency, ensure authenticity, and deepen consumer engagement. Through quantitative methodology, combining consumer and producer surveys with statistical analyses, the study revealed compelling patterns in the perceptions of different sector stakeholders. The analyses demonstrated a remarkable alignment between consumers and producers in the dimensions of traceability and authenticity, suggesting a solid foundation for implementing Blockchain solutions. The study identified statistically significant differences in digital engagement between consumers and producers, with consumers demonstrating consistently higher levels of engagement. Furthermore, the analysis revealed distinct patterns based on specific stakeholder characteristics. This research provides a significant contribution to the Portuguese wine sector by presenting statistically-grounded, practical recommendations for supporting the implementation of Blockchain solutions.| Date of Award | 24 Mar 2025 |
