Abstract
The main objective of this dissertation was to understand the role of digital transformation in the internationalization of Portuguese Small and Medium- sized Enterprises (SMEs). The research method used was an exploratory case study, with four companies selected and interviewed. The results show that digital transformation in SMEs in Portugal is seen as inevitable by them. Digital transformation and SME internationalization are interconnected processes. Internationalization is a way for SMEs to grow and become more competitive. Digital technologies for internal management, such as logistics software, and for managing clients in foreign markets, such as e-commerce tools and online sales platforms, facilitate the internationalization process.| Date of Award | 22 Oct 2025 |
