The university is considered a reference for scientific research, as well as theintellectual and academic space that forms citizens. At the same time, it is also atraditionalist, conservative, bureaucratic, fragmented and resistant to changeinstitution, presenting difficulties in seeking innovation. In this sense, a new role is required from the teacher that goes beyond mere reproducer of knowledge, but of mediator of the context in which students find themselves, evidencing their experiences and understanding of the world. Therefore, the relevance of the presentstudy is based on the possibility of contributing to the teacher's practice in the classroom, as well as enabling new discussions and reflections on the teacher's leadership role in the classroom, indicating the main influences on the student relationship. -teacher. This study has the general objective: To analyze the influence of teacher leadership in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. And for specific objectives: Study leadership in teaching and pedagogical management; Characterize leadership styles and theories; Understand the determinants that influence the student-teacher relationship in the classroom; Characterize the skills that are necessary for the teacher to be a leader in the classroom. The study is justified by the fact that the leadership role played by the teacher in the classroom can be a factor of engagement and facilitator in the teaching-learning process, enabling the creation of a healthy environment and meeting the main demands of groups of students. assertively. Working hypotheses: the teacher's leadership is apotentiating vector of the teaching-learning process; The leadership style assumed by the teacher contributes to the effectiveness of school management. It is a quantitative and qualitative research, in the form of a case study. The research was carried out at the Federal University of Maranhão - UFMA. Volunteers (students) were requested to answer the questionnaires, considering that the willingness to participate in the research will lead to more significant results. Questionnaires with objective and subjective questions were applied to the students, in addition to a recorded interview with the Coordinator Professor of the Hospitality and Tourism courses, Drª Monica. Education is one of the most important factors in the lives of students and society in general, and it was realized through the present study that leadership is the key to the success of educational systems, as it contributes to positive changes and to facing challenges. challenges in order to increase the quality of education. However, it is worth remembering that the starting point of this research work began with a very relevant issue that greatly concerns all people who are part of school environments: the teacher-student relationship and the teaching-learning process.
