O papel do enfermeiro especialista na comunicação

Abstract

Held within the scope of the Curso de Mestrado em Enfermagem com Especialização em Enfermagem Médico-Cirúrgica na área de Pessoa em Situação Crítica, of Institute of Health Sciences da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, this report is a reflection on the path taken during the internship of the curricular unit “Estágio Final e Relatório”, centered on the person in a critical situation in the context of general emergency service and multipurpose intensive care. The description of the experiences achieved, the difficulties felt and the interventions carried out along this path are the main objective of this report. A descriptive, analytical-reflective methodology was used for the elaboration of the present work, in order to describe the thinking and decision making developed as a specialist nurse in the process of acquisition and development of skills in the contexts of clinical practice. Continuous research and the foundation of all the practice developed were aspects that accompanied the entire course. Communication is something that is part of the nurse's day-to-day life, whatever the context of practice in which he is inserted. Observing the moments of patient transfer between professionals was one of the activities developed related to this theme. Other activities, such as the creation of theoretical content on other themes that emerged along the way, are presented in this work, describing all the work developed for the acquisition of skills. These activities allowed me to leave my contribution in the services that received me as a student, such as the “Norma de Cuidados de Enfermagem ao Doente Submetido a Cirurgia Cardíaca” developed in the first internship context, the two works developed in the internship in an emergency service context about “Via Verde Trauma” and “Acesso Intra-ósseo” and also the literature review article on the subject of Communication. It is known that the specialist nurse must always develop his practice according to the different dimensions of care for people in critical situations. It is explained in this work the set of skills acquired and developed throughout the learning path.
