Residential care is characterized by a period of change, in which may be experienced transformations that imply, among others, separations and the redefinition of the relational framework, as well as, a space that may holding and carrying. This process associated with adolescence may enhance the vulnerability of young people. In this context, the social support network plays a crucial role by establishing close and affectionate relationships with significant figures, such as the peer group. Thus, the aim of this work is to understand the adolescentes experience, framing it in the institutional context, in order to discern the role of social relations, mainly, peer group relationships, while promoting resilience. For this, we used a qualitative methodology, based on action research. A procedure for the application of Double Moon Greco (2004) and the Andolfi (1991) Genogram and a semi-structured interview, such as data collection methods, which work as before and after the test, a resilience between the peer group. The results of content analysis were carried out from the interviews, in contrast with the results obtained by Dupla Lua (1999) and Genograma Andolfi (1991). We can conclude that the family is the latent engine of young people's lives, idealized as a source of support and restraint, is presented as having a central role. The role of supportive network support is decisively devalued by unsafe and distrustful posture regarding such relationships, which can be characterized with a functional, or substitutive, role. This view is marked by non-normative family events that, due to their lack of adaptation and integration, lead to a negative self-concept and a self-blame of an entire lived situation. Advocacy and defense mechanisms are privileged as denial in order to ensure a continuity and stability of the self, which has been found fragmented by critical and traumatic events experienced, as well as lack of support, stability and restraint that are so much sought after.
