Abstract
This master’s thesis analyses a topic that is gaining undeniable importance at a global level: tourism. Faced with the lack of adequate urban planning and the incessant growth of tourist activity, we question: are cities adequately planned to face the unpredictable challenges of tourism? Among the various negative impacts of tourism on urban centres, one of the most complex and pressing issues stands out, the duality between permanent housing and local lodging, which leads to conflicts and contradictions in land management. However, the solution lies in the principle of sustainable territorial development, which brings together and harmonises economic, social, and environmental interests in cities. We therefore sought to investigate the importance of tourism planning, and how sustainability in this field can safeguard resources for generations to come.| Date of Award | 2 Jul 2025 |
