Abstract

In a context of high instability and major management challenges, companies unfold themselves in efforts to maintain their competitive advantage. In this sense, this dissertation is dedicated to studying the potential of gamification in training and development as enablers of intellectual capital-driven competitive advantage. The study was developed in an analytical consultancy company and aimed to create a gamification prototype, assess the prototype impact, and identify possible future development paths. The Rapid Application Development approach to project management was the guiding method to the prototype development and semidirect interviews were the data collection technique chosen to gather evaluations and perceptions of future developments. The work was developed by a team in which the researcher was mainly responsible for structuring and conceptualization efforts and accompanied closely the development and implementation of the solution, using low-code programming language to do so. The prototype was positively perceived by its users and reveals to be capable of fostering current practices of training and development of the company. Additionally, improvement opportunities to the current prototype were identified, providing a roadmap of possible development options for the company.
