This document is the final work carried out as part of the Master's Degree in Religious Sciences, specializing in Catholic Moral and Religious Education, in the context of primary and secondary education in Portugal. More precisely, it presents the Supervised Teaching Practice carried out in the 2021/2022 school year, at the Nordeste Primary and Secondary School, located in the Azores archipelago, on the island of São Miguel, in a 5th grade class. The supervised teaching practice focuses on Teaching Unit 2: Advent and Christmas, a fundamental unit for exploring the religious and cultural dimensions of Christianity. The research component is based on the presentation of a pedagogical itinerary for teaching this Teaching Unit. This itinerary includes a study visit, taken as a pedagogical strategy, encouraging students to get involved with the Nativity scene in a tangible way, with a view to deepening their reflection and helping them to relate the religious meaning of the Nativity scene to its cultural and historical context. From the analysis carried out on Prior Evaristo Gouveia's Nativity scene, in the light of Danièle Hervieu-Léger's model, it is considered that this (religious and cultural) artifact, as a mediator of a Christian religious identity and tradition, presents characteristics that define it as such in the four poles contemplated by the model: community-identity; cultural; ethical-axiological and affective-emotional. In order to improve the teaching-learning process in relation to the content covered in Teaching Unit 2, a study visit to Prior Evaristo Gouveia's crib was planned.
