With the rise of the digital era, it is essential that the strategies and objectives of companies are consistent with this reality. COVID-19 accelerated the entire process of companies adapting to the digital world, creating major challenges for retailers. Within the retail sector, the order-picking process has a significant weight in the costs of the e-commerce model. Thus, this study focused on answering the following question: “What can be implemented to make the order-piking process more efficient?”. This issue was studied in the context of the curricular internship held at the store Auchan Maia. Through a detailed analysis of this store's order-picking process, it was possible to identify opportunities for improvement. Following this identification, proposals for improvements were prepared with a view to greater efficiency in the order-picking process, and some of these proposals were implemented: a new location and a document with a tutorial on the use of picking pistols and with all the procedures and order-picking rules. However, as much as the in-store picking process is improved, with the continuous growth of online sales, this process in the long term will not be viable. Even so, as this market currently does not have a significant weight in physical store sales, a restructuring of the process was not justified, as the improvements implemented allowed for short-term efficiency gains.
