Abstract

The learning of the Cello presupposes a not only complex but also time consuming path. Given that most of the teaching-learning process is carried out in class time and that this time is increasingly shorter, the study done at home becomes vital to students’ performance development. This finding stresses the importance of creating strategies that optimize individual study; therefore we have resorted to audiovisual tools. Thus, the presented research aims to achieve a substantial improvement in the students’ performance through the use of video. Additionally, it attempts to understand the impact and the influence of this teaching-learning model in students’ individual study time. To this end, a comparative study of the students’ performance, with and without the support of the recorded video model, is conducted. Initially, the evaluation is carried out by the author, according to five criteria stipulated for the 1st grade of Music Articulated Teaching of CMB. We have subsequently carried out questionnaires to students in order to understand their views on the use of the video model. Finally, an external evaluation is carried out by a panel of experts. The results demonstrate that the use of the video model can integrate a set of tools and relevant individual study strategies for students of the 1st grade of cello, thus contributing to a more proficient teaching and learning and achieving the stipulated goals.
