The main goal of this thesis is to understand the utility and receptivity of an online platform designed for students and companies. A platform of this type intends to seek and encourage the relationship between both parts since the moment students start their university studies. This thesis tries to understand if this type of platform might be the missing piece of the academic and professional world, aiming to create a common space for students and firms to exchange relevant information. We focus on assessing what are the relevant pieces of information the recruiters like to have access to, simultaneously identifying what kind of incentives and techniques should be implemented in order to motivate students to make that information available. To address these questions three studies were developed. First, an online survey targeting university students was developed to assess their level of interest in participating in platform like the one described. Second, in-depth interviews were conducted next to industry representatives. Third, an online experiment was run to understand which attributes were most valued by students in such a platform of this type. By perfectly understanding students´ needs, as well as companies’ way of looking and recruiting university talent, we hope to be capable of providing meaningful insights to build a tool capable of improving the bridge between these two worlds.
