This investigation analyses the relationship between journalists and farright populist parties, from the example of the Portuguese party Chega! (CH). Through a qualitative method of analysis applied to interviews of portuguese journalists from different publications and media, we conclude that there’re ethical and deontological conflicts for a journalist during the cover of far-right populist parties. The differences between the journalistic ethos and the ethos of far-right populist parties are the base of these conflicts. The main actual problems of journalism, as the market pressure and the precarity of the profession, are also key factors to understand the ethical and deontological conflicts for journalists during the cover of far-right populist parties.
