Abstract

His Holiness, Pope Paul VI, appointed the then Canon Eduardo André Muaca, recently graduated from the Gregorian University of Rome, Auxiliary Bishop of Luanda, on 11 March 1970. On the occasion of their first pastoral visit to the Mission of Lucula Zenze on 7 June 1970, the missionaries of the Congregation of the Fathers of the Holy Spirit felt it best to deliver the Mission under the guidance of the African diocesan priests in the person of Father Angelino Gaspar Nanga. Father Gabriel Nionje Seda, after four years of treatment in the hospitals of the city of Porto (Portugal), where he left decreased physical in his hands, needing the help of others to wear, put on and eat, was named Coadjutor of Father Angelino. From the harrowing request of a young girl in her 20s, marginalized in the wave of schooling, to learn to read and write, Father Gabriel founded the Nova et Vetera Initiation Courses. In this way, we have two missionations: the first of the European Spiritan priests (1893-1970), before the Second Vatican Council, and the second of the African diocesan priests (1970-1974), after the Second Vatican Council. The Spiritan fathers in the first evangelization followed the guidance of the Holy See through the encyclicals, namely, of the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XV at Maximum illud (30-11- 1919), Pius XI at Rerum Ecclesiae (28-2-1926), Pius XII at Evangelii praecones (2-6-1951) and Fidei donum (15-1-1957) and John XXIII at Princeps pastorum (28-11-1957). The African diocesan fathers in the second evangelization followed the guidelines of the documents of the Second Vatican Council, especially in the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen gentium, in the Conciliar Constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium, on the Liturgy, in the Pastoral Constitution Gaudium et spes, on the Church in today's world, in the Decree Ad gentes, on Missionary Activity in the Church, to mention only these… In the study of these two missionary methodologies, we chose the problem of research from the liturgy, the most visible face of the inculturation of a local church, having as a reference point the reception of the Second Vatican Council in the Mission of Lucula Zenze, Cabinda.
