Currently, with the phenomenon of massive production and the growth of electronic commerce, it has become necessary to adopt mechanisms that provide greater consumer protection. In Portugal, the Directive 1999/44/CE was transposed throught the Decree-Law no. 67/2003 and recently the Directives (EU) 2019/771 and (EU) 2019/770 were also transposed with the DL no. 84/2021. Our purpose with this dissertation is to analyze the sale of consumer goods regime, giving special relevance to consumer rights in case of non-conformity with the contract. So, first, we will refer the purchase and sale agreement of the defective things in the Civil Law regime. Then, we will study the purchase and sale of consumer goods. Thus, we will make a general framework and next make a comparison between Directive (EU) 2019/771 and DL n.º 67/2003. Finally, we will briefly describe the main innovations and alterations of the new DL n.º 84/2021.
