This research was developed under a specific context of migrant support, with the aim of analyzing professionals' perspectives on gender roles and expectations, as well as whether they are aware of gender-sensitive recommendations and policies. Through a qualitative case study, interviews were conducted with three professionals from a migrant support institution in northern Portugal. Data analysis revealed the persistence of gender stereotypes, cultural differences as the main difficulty in integrating migrants and a lack of knowledge of specific laws and recommendations that guide professional practice in these contexts. It was concluded that, although there is awareness of gender issues and equal treatment, challenges persist in gender-sensitive intervention and the need for investment in promoting policies in this direction. This study contributes to a reflection on gender issues, the cultural differences associated with them and the implications for practice, as well as to the creation and promotion of measures that foster a more equal intervention.
