Abstract

The dissertation focuses on the interfaces between trade secrets and personal data protection rights, namely the interfaces of the former with the right of access and the right of data portability. Aware of the personal data’s role in a digital era, Big Data and data mining are crucial tools in building a business life guided by efficiency and improvement goals. It is, therefore, by resorting to such personal data that companies build a set of policies, decisions and projects of their own, which they aim to keep in secrecy. Therefore, it is worth questioning the admissibility of such personal data to the requirements of trade secrets and the determination of the eventual limitations that they may create on the subject of data protection rights.
