Os sete tipos de memória musical

: criação de uma metodologia sistemática para o segundo ciclo da disciplina de piano

Abstract

This report is part of the completion of the Master’s Degree in Music Teaching of the Catholic University of Portugal and is divided into two parts: the Professional Practice Report and the Pedagogical Intervention Project. The Professional Practice Report exposes my career as an intern at the Fernandes Fão Music Academy within the professional groups M17 and M32 (piano and ensemble class), with a detailed description of the objectives of the practice, the strategies developed, the characterization of the groups, the lessons attended and given, the self-assessment and co-evaluation by various elements of the educational community or the reflections on my own performance, among other aspects. The Pedagogical Intervention Project aims to create a methodology for the practice of memory in the second cycle of the piano discipline, based on the seven types of memory systematized for the first time by Rodolfo Barbacci (1911-1972), an Argentine musicologist and composer, in his book "Education of musical memory" (1965). Thus, since the musical practice of memory is a major concern for students and in many cases, there is no effective methodological process in the classroom, the regular practice of the exercises provided for in this project will contribute to create a more solid memory and a consequent sense of security on the part of children. The methodology was developed in an interactive website format and the intervention was developed over eleven sessions and a concert between January and March 2023 with six piano students from the second cycle of the Fernandes Fão Music Academy.
