Abstract

The dissertation deals with the theme of Christian education of children from Saint John Chrysostom’s work De Inani Gloria et De Educandis Liberis translation proposal, by our authorship, with the aim of getting directly closer to the author’s thought, passing through its expressive forms in the original Greek language.The work of translation into Portuguese was the basis for the study of the Treatise in its structure, in the literary genre, but, above all, for the study of the dominant motives of the work and pedagogical advice transmitted in it. The Treatise is contextualized either from the relationship between Greek Paideia, from the biography of Chrysostom, with particular attention to his path of moral and school formation, from other writing by the same.
