Abstract

“Paul Rolland in the initiation of the violin - a playful learning", is the Pedagogical Intervention Project (PIP) and was carried out in the Master’s in Music Teaching, of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto, under the guidance of PhD Eliseu Silva. The report that is presented here is composed of the Professional Practice (PP) in the specialization areas of Violin and Ensemble Class and the Pedagogical Intervention Project (PIP). The Professional Practice took place in the year 20/21 at Escola de Música Nossa Senhora do Cabo in Linda-a-Velha and had as scientific advisor PhD Eliseu Silva and as cooperating pedagogical advisor Professor Marilyn Brito, holder of the subject where the PIP was implemented. The goal of the PIP was to create challenges where, in a ludic way, the participants could learn advanced violin techniques. It was implemented between February and June 2021, in 32 classes, with four beginner students, from 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades, aged between 7 and 9 years old, who attend the Violin and MiniOrchestra subject at EMNSC on a beginner basis. The data collection for this study was carried out through a questionnaire, direct observation tables and an interview with the cooperating pedagogical supervisor. The results obtained have revealed possible the learning of advanced violinistic techniques in early years and that the "Challenges for Brave Violinists" assumed a motivating, captivating and challenging role for the four participants.
