With this report intended to be a theoretical / practical deepening the theme of light / shadow as a contribute to enhancing the teaching of Visual Arts. Also aspire to lead students to discover the many dimensions that the shadow behaves and can be something more than a three-dimensional representation, a representation, yes, of our identity, personality and values. Through a series of didactic and pedagogical strategies, we seek to apply that theme in the classroom, enabling students to direct their potential experimentation, in order to lead to the development of fundamental skills to the seventh year of the discipline of Visual Education. This report is divided into two parts, the first concerns the theoretical investigation of the theme light / shadow as a basic element of visual communication, which are deepened the fundamental technical aspects of teaching this subject. In this part, we also explored and deepened the symbolic meaning of the shadow psychological, anthropological, epistemological, ethical level and human. We gave particular emphasis to the ideas and concepts covered by some authors, namely: Plato, Carl Jung, Zweig and Abrams, Tamjaki, Adelbert Chamisso, among others. In Part Two we try to show that students have progressed and perfected in the shadow of the approach, after being sensitized and pedagogically oriented to the most significant aspects of the topic. In this sense might throw your look beyond the technical reality that surrounds the subject and discover new dynamic look, which included the discovery of the inner reality of each. This will have them instilled interest, motivation, and therefore better learning of all content in general.
