The Pera Rocha do Oeste PDO (Pyrus communis L. cv. 'Rocha') is a Portuguese variety from the Oeste region. This study intends to evaluate the relationship of the brix grade and also of several characteristic parameters of Pera Rocha with the geographical location of the orchards. In this way, we started by creating a detailed matrix with the different parameters to be evaluated about the way of production of Pera Rocha. To this end, several interviews were carried out with 5 Producers' Organizations, in the Oeste region, and 57 plots were analysed. The data that were analyzed refer to soil, climate, production, quality of Pera Rocha, type of water and irrigation, diseases and pests, main fertilization practices, crop profitability and new technologies. With these data, we proceeded to a statistical analysis. The first evaluation carried out was to calculate the mean and standard deviation of the Brix degree of Pera Rocha from the orchards of the different Producer Organizations using the SPSS program. Also with this program, an analysis of the principal components (PCA) was carried out and it was concluded that the variable most correlated with the degree of brix was the duration of irrigation. The other variables that are also correlated with the degree of brix are the organic matter and the number of active substances of plant protection products that are applied during the vegetative cycle of the plant.
