Climate change is a variation in climate that persists for decades or centuries, originating from natural causes or human activities, with effects on the composition of the atmosphere, such as changes in temperature, sea levels, and precipitation. Climate change presents a global problem that requires a collective and coordinated response. Currently, these are being associated with mental health, and a broader definition of psychological distress that encompasses climate issues is needed. This study aims to adapt and validate three scales: Climate Change Perception Scale; Climate Change Hope Scale; Climate Change Anxiety Scale, for the portuguese population; and analyze and relate the scales to each other and to sociodemographic variables. To this end, factor analyses (exploratory and confirmatory) will be carried out to test the models proposed by the authors. Good adjustment models were found in all three instruments, with the Portuguese versions maintaining the structure proposed by the authors of the original versions. In addition, statistically significant differences were found in the perception of climate change according to gender. It is believed that this research will bring new information about the relationship between psychology and climate science, providing further studies about these themes, mainly in the Portuguese context.
