The Master’s degree of a professional nature, in the area of Medical-Surgical Nursing, presented by the Catholic University, Centro Regional das Beiras, aims to develop skills for advanced nursing care to the sick and elderly adults, especially directed to assist the patient in serious condition. This course was due to the need to acquire new knowledge able to improve performance in the care of critical patients in the Surgical Room, where I exercise functions. It was intended to know the professional/institutional reality, especially the interaction between services, which reflects the continuity of care provided by health professionals. At the end of the course that leads to the Master’s degree, the final report, regarding the clinical practice, will be submitted to public discussion. This report was performed under the guidelines of Nursing Teacher Teresa Borges. The clinical teaching was conducted at São Teotónio Hospital - Viseu, filed with the Catholic University/ESPS, guided by the nursing teacher and tutored by specialist nurses, with relevant work experience in the area. Its structure is based on three modules: Module I – General Emergency Department, from 26 April to 26 June 2010; Module II - Intensive Care Unit, from 03 January to 28 February 2011; Module III - Optional - the Surgical Room, it is already credited because I have developed skills in the care of critically patients in professional work. The wording of the report aims, through bibliographie review, the description and discussion of developed activities, to demonstrate how the student was able to identify problems and solutions, to reflect on the actions undertaken and their ethical and social implications, and communicate their findings. Thus, the Report is an assessment tool in the context of Post-Graduate Specialization in Nursing, responding to the general objective of the course, underlying the development of scientific, technical, ethical and relational abilities to provide specialized nursing care to critical patients. The Clinical teaching locals proved to be extremely rewarding and enriching. I acquire a proper attitude of learn and develop critical care skills, consistent with the objectives of the course and the Specialist Nurse abilities.
