This project reflects on the sampling technique, addressing some issues related to ethical, legal, technical and artistic aspects that are associated with it, as well as musical genres and instruments that characterize it. The antagonisms between artistic inspiration and appropriation will be addressed, as well as the incompatibilities between the industrialization of music and creative freedom. On the other hand, the document surveys some historical milestones of sampling in music, such as its importance for the Plunderphonics movement, or its influence on hip-hop culture, particularly in rap music. Furthermore, a critical analysis of the album Madvilainy is made, with the sampling technique as the central axis of commentary. Finally, to support all the theoretical basis, the project is complemented by a musical album “Perfect Repetition”, which gives the project its name, and consists of compositions developed by the author, mainly, with recourse to the manipulation of samples.
