Alcohol consumption during pregnancy represents a serious public health problem due to the risks it poses to the mother and the developing fetus. This study aims to explore the perspectives and practices of a group of nurses regarding alcohol consumption in pregnancy. The group of participants consists of thirteen nurses who carry out the follow-up of pregnant women in Primary Health Care and Private Health Care. The selection method used to choose the participants was non-probability snowball sampling. A semi-structured interview guide was used as part of the initial study, based on the review of the existing literature and the research data of the team. In-depth interviews were conducted and their content was subsequently analysed based on a semi-inductive analysis process, using Nvivo 12. The results point to insufficient information on the subject and a lack of knowledge of national and international alcohol guidelines. Participants also revealed disparate perspectives on the safe level of alcohol. The results demonstrate the need for more training and education in the area to adequately respond to the needs of this population.
