Abstract

This research has as main objective to present public policies carried out by theDETRAN of the Federal District, as well as to show that when applied with the educationalcharacter. can contribute to the reduction of mortality rates and to the fight against recurrent violence in traffic. The study was carried out with a qualitative and quantitative methodological approach, with analysis for which data were collected from a group of instructors from the Training course. offered by the Escola de Trânsito do DF, which, in compliance with current public policies, carry out and implement educational projects, together with society, with the aim of improving the traffic situation in the Federal District. The analysis performed is presented in a descriptive way, according to the content analysis methodology, according to Bardin (2001), observing the objectives, the modes of execution of the traffic education program, with the instructor students as participants in there search. The results achieved allow us to infer that the school's action project is quite broad and has viable objectives for the educational campaigns promoted by the Public School of Traffic in the DF. It consists, therefore, of a proposal that aims to positively favor the safety of the population, as it seeks to change social practices and behaviors for the use of public roads to reduce accidents and violence in traffic and the promotion of a culture of peace, motto of the DETRAN-DF. However, the research revealed the need to restructure the pedagogical practice adopted by the Escola de Trânsito do DETRAN for the training and improvement of instructors, since the research participants revealed dissatisfaction with the activities and with the teachers who taught the course. Therefore, a political intervention in the organizational model is suggested so that the Escola de Trânsito can raise the level of satisfaction of instructors to enroll in new editions of the course.
