Abstract

The work developed grounds on the fundamental principle of giving voice to the voice of children and adolescents, through the study of choral practice reality while discipline, outlining strategic improvements to the discipline of choral set class. It is one of the goals of this work, the characterization of a profile, in the school directors perspective, needed to teach choral set class, in vocational schools of music. On the other hand, the investigation seeks to collect educational guidelines for the training of choral classes in vocational education schools set to music, in particular at programmatic level of repertoire. Methodologically, the investigation is a multiple case studies, focusing on the reality of the pedagogical practice of school choir practice for the basic course in music. Following the study, a survey of the practices, guided by programmatic documents, training of teachers and reflections of this practice at the level of the educational project, through interviews with directors of teaching music schools vocational school of music, in the north and centre of Portugal. The results, from all information collected, including the intersection with international programs and the State of the art literature, suggests that the majority of schools present the possibility of choral practice for students of basic course, favoring the same in the first two years of the course. The schools involved take this practice as essential to the training of students. To be noted that even reiterating the importance of this class, either on the motivation of students, both in terms of the plan of activities, the schools do not present a program of discipline or pedagogical structural guidelines for the practice of instrumental ensemble or choir practice. Thus, the teacher, although in most cases do not have an higher education focused in this subject, holds full autonomy for the development of the work. Consequently, this thesis, for a better implementation of the information collected, presents a proposal for choral practice in basic course, as well as a repertoire set capable of making the program assumed a reality. The study and its proposal, promote the discussion between praxis and the choir practice capability by the absence of strategic overview and guidance for an active and holistic learning, from the voice.
