This thesis focusses on the dynamics of collaborative consumption through the study of the Facebook community of carsharing "Boleias: Porto-Lisboa ... e ... Lisboa-Porto!!”. We want to identify the drivers of carsharing as well as the main values of this practice of consumption. We also measured the impact of individual’s history line on the decision of carsharing. We used two different methods: a quantitative one – query to the community users, and a qualitative one – bibliographic interviews that results in four sociological portraits. We found evidence that there are different types of motivations regarding the car sharing such us economic reasons, social needs, environmental awareness and solidarity to others. Both the respondents and interviewed ones highlight the costs saving as the main driver for this collaborative act. On the other hand, we conclude that exist materialistic and post-materialistic values regards the car sharing.
