Abstract
In the last decades there has been a progressive interest in attitudes toward the disabled person. This interest is explained by modern currents of integration, institutionalization and standardization.Under the reform of the education system, changes in special education are now focused towards a progressive integration of children with special needs in the regular education class. In this process, the school has a key role in driving a successful inclusion. No less important is the role of the family and the school community where the student is inserted.
Based on a literature review of attitudes towards the integration of children with special educational needs, we have developed the argument that the representations and attitudes of teachers towards the educational integration of children with special educational needs depend fundamentally on the successful representation of each group and these in turn interact with the training received.
Then presented the concept of SEN and their different problems; the type of SEN (mild / significant and temporary / permanent).
As one of the report's purpose is to report our career, I chose a very significant experience occurred in a Multiple Disability Unit, integrated in a primary school of the first cycle, to narrate and not to be forgotten, by the involvement of the family, school, school community...
As the case occurred in a Multiple Disability Unit, we made an approach to the concept for Multiple Disability and its characteristics and explain what the function of the Multiple Disability Units is, and that these work within regular schools and these children attend regular education rooms.
As I mentioned before I lived a very significant experience in a school due to a project that I developed, taking into account a multiple disability student who needed a new wheelchair because it was inadequate to his size, limiting his participation and activity.
This project was called "Project of Bottle Caps" because we learned that plastic caps give rise to wheelchairs. That is, we raise caps, which are then delivered in places where recycling is made, and recycling entities pay a certain amount for the caps. With this money then we can buy the wheelchairs ...Over time we found that we did not have enough money with this project, however we continue our struggle scheduling a supportive BTT and selling raffle tickets.
Towards the end of the school year we reached our goal and we gave the student a wheelchair and still offered an orthopaedic vest to another child.
