This study aims to obtain a behavioral profile of children born prematurely and possible indicators of psychopathology and to explore the relationship between these profiles and the clinical history (gestational age, birth weight and length of hospitalization) and even environmental factors (professional status and parents is educational level). The sample of this study consists of 25 children born weighing less than 1.500 grams and/or born with less than 33 weeks of gestation in a Hospital in the north of Portugal and who are currently five years old. The children were evaluated with the Child Behavior Checklist for Ages 1½ - 5, in portuguese Questionário de Comportamentos da Criança 1½ - 5 anos, and the method used was the quantitative. We concluded that the behavioral profile of children matches the normative values not revealing psychopathology indicators. A longest hospitalization is associated with an increase of psychopathology. Parents with a higher professional status and educational level reported fewer behavior problems in children, so the professional status and the educational level exert significant influences on how parents interact, perceive and evaluate children.
