Abstract

Media convergence is increasing in portuguese newsrooms and includes phenomenon as wide-ranging as crossmedia. Even so, there are few studies on the presence of this concept in newsrooms. For this reason, the main objective of this internship report is to understand how the process of crossmedia production takes place in the SIC newsroom, taking into consideration the research question "How is a content produced by the SIC newsroom adapted and distributed on different channels?". Other objectives to be considered are adapting content to different media and the crossmedia production routines followed by journalists in the newsroom. This research adopted a mixed methodology, using a survey and content analysis. The survey consisted of 13 questions and was distributed to the journalists in the newsroom. Also, the content analysis analysed 109 news reports from SIC's Jornal da Noite to study how many were crossmedia. The crossmedia production is present in the newsroom, although only practised by some journalists on a large scale. The results show that most of the content broadcast on national television is then replicated on SIC Notícias website and social networks. Still, without any kind of change, and there is no join effort to adapt the content to each different communication channel, with the necessary changes to suit the characteristics that each one requires.
