Abstract
Low Density Territories have been, all over the globe, afflicted by the territorial abandonment and population ageing phenomena. By deeming these issues of secondary importance, upheld policies are now aware of the harmful character these actions might translate into in the context of affirmation and development of these territories.Designed specifically for the environment offered by the Organization - trademark and destination - Aldeias Históricas de Portugal-Associação de Desenvolvimento Turístico (AHP-ADT), this project proposes not only the contextualization of the factual reality of this territory, but also seeks to present a number of business proposals that, in hand with the new governmental tendencies of territory development, are fully capable of securing a Cultural Network Based Project in a sustainable way.
Located at the Centre Region of Portugal, the territory by this project portrayed, counts ten municipalities - in which are found the twelve historical villages - spread throughout three districts. Of this multitude results a cultural, heritage and social richness that’s not only inimitable as it is of immense potential.
In this sense, this project results of a “two-front” strategy; the first one, regarding the remodeling of the integrated product associated with the territory, integrated within AHP-ADT strategy’s and as part of the Cultural and Creative touristic branches with the aim of ensuring new formats and ways of ensuring profitability and economical revitalization. In the second one, and taking into account socio-cultural phenomena as counterurbanization and the search for more authentic and sustainable lifestyles, are presented some proposals that within the Sector of Cultural and Creative Industries may enable the establishment of specialized entrepreneurship and the creative class associated with it, whom in harmony with local communities (residential community, entrepreneur community and educational community) and the public authorities with decision-making and monitoring powers ( at a local, regional and national levels) become capable to communicate a Cultural Network Based Project like this one.
