: a criança com diabetes no ensino pré-escolar

Abstract

The main objective of this report is to present the community intervention project, "The Child with Diabetes in preschool education", carried out within the scope of the final stage of the Master's in Community Health and Public Health Nursing, with the objective of contributing to the training process for kindergarten teachers and educational action assistants, in supporting the management of the therapeutic regimen for children with type 1 Diabetes Mellitus in preschool education. Based on the Health Planning methodology, a diagnosis of the situation in the area covered by ACeS Arrábida was carried out through key informants, consultation of health indicators and bibliographic research. After identifying the priority problems, strategies were selected and activities planned, among which the health education session for kindergarten teachers and educational assistants who work with children with type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. After the nursing intervention, it was found that 93% of kindergarten teachers and educational assistants mentioned acquiring new knowledge about type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and the importance of practical training, contributing to greater confidence in school and improvement in the quality of life of children with this condition. pathology. Thus, this project contributed to the recognition of the importance of training preschool education professionals who accompany children with type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, as well as to the development of specialized skills in Community Health and Public Health Nursing.
