Abstract

The various stages that make up the life cycle, from birth to the end of life, constitute a challenge with regard to healthy human development. It is from childhood to young adulthood that a more pronounced “growth” takes place, but all age groups are subject to personalized needs and health care. Young university students are in a phase of transition and affirmation, which may lead to some vulnerabilities in relation to risky behaviors and the exercise of their autonomy. The new challenges they face, whether in terms of socialization or fulfillment of personal, academic goals or other, the physical and psychological distance from their comfort references and the curiosity inherent to new experiences that provide knowledge and "practice" of life, may represent an increased exposure to health risks. The internship took place in a UCC where several interventions were being developed whose target population were university students, in this sense a project entitled UNIverDRINK Myths and Truths about Alcohol was developed. This was developed according to the Health Planning methodology and based on the theoretical foundation of Nola Pender's Health Promotion Model, which promotes health-generating behaviors and health education. The main goal of this project is to contribute to the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits in university students, particularly in relation to responsible consumption of alcohol. The prevention and health promotion interventions include an education session that aims to contribute with knowledge about alcohol consumption, alert and inform about the harmful effects of excessive consumption. Specialist nurses in Community Nursing and Public Health can play a crucial role in improving the health status of populations. By diagnosing the health needs of a population and prioritizing them, they are able to implement collaborative activities through the application of techniques and theoretical models. Health technicians, several institutions in partnership, the legislative power and the community itself should be involved. This project, by enriching the content of the internship, allowed the development of specialized competences inherent to nursing specialization in the area of Community Nursing and Public Health.
