Projeto de tradução com comentário de textos de Jules Renard

Abstract

This work is a translation project with commentary. We will propose a translation of brief texts written by Jules Renard, followed by a reflection on the translation process. The object is a collection of brief literary texts by Jules Renard, which we chose from the anthology, unpublished in Portuguese, Coquecigrues (1893). We will start by introducing the life of the author of the source texts, Jules Renard, up until the publication of Coquecigrues, focusing on the literary context of his work. Jules Renard’s diary – Journal (1887 – 1910) – will also be studied here, insofar that it sheds light on the author’s worldview and on his approach to writing. Afterwards, we will present the anthologies from which we selected the source texts. In the third part of this work, we will present the translations of the selected texts. Finally, we will identify and comment difficulties inherent to the translation process and the strategies that we used to surpass them.
