The situation of migrant and refugee minors has gained increasing attention worldwide. The literature highlights the need to develop interventions better adapted to this population, in order to promote their mental health and well-being. In this context, the Waves in You project emerged as a surf therapy initiative aimed at young migrants and refugees, with the goal of promoting their psychological well-being and social inclusion. The main objective of the present study is to assess the impact of this intervention on the second wave of participants, seeking to identify its potentialities and limitations. The research followed a qualitative approach, exploring the perceptions of the technical team and volunteers involved in the programme. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews, which were subjected to thematic analysis. The results suggest significant improvements in the young participants’ socio-emotional skills and pro-social behaviours, while also highlighting benefits for the professionals involved. Logistical and linguistic barriers were identified, with potential impact on continued adherence to the programme. It was concluded that surf therapy represents a promising, accessible and non-stigmatizing strategy for promoting mental health in vulnerable populations. This study also aimed to address the lack of research in this area and proposes directions for future interventions.
