Abstract
The completion of this report closes the academic career of the master's degreecourse in Nursing Professional Nature in Community Nursing Specialization describing a critical and reflective activities in stage I and Module II.
Aging is a part of life of each person from the moment I was born, so the elderly
dependence constitutes a major challenge for the healthcare providers, primarily for caregivers informal being familiar, neighbor, friend take responsibility of these, paid or unpaid.
The foster care is a social response that has not been a priority in Community
terms.
To improve people's access to health information, and your ability to use it
effectively, health literacy is a key condition on health education and promotion, the prevention and management of disease andempowerment of citizens and community.
The relevance of the subject and in view of the local situation, the diagnosis was
developed by master project -Promotion of health literacy of Caregivers of elderly in foster care, in the strategic plan of emerging Community intervention, going against the strategic line of intervention of the ACES This work was developed in a USF where were flagged 78 foster care of elderly dependents, identified 15 and agreed to participate in the
study these 9 families.The sample considered of convenience was constituted by 11 caregivers and 24 older people with dependency. As instruments of data collection were applied in a form and grid of observation, Scale NVS and index of Barthel to make the diagnosis situation.
Caregivers have a average of 59.6 years, 89% are female, 44.4% has more than 9
years of schooling, and 33.3% have primary education incomplete or know howto read and write, 88.9% are remunerated for providing care.

incomplete or know how to read and write, 88.9% are compensated for the care they provide, 77.8% of caregivers presents a high probability of having low health literacyand 80% of caregivers with 12 years schooling feature a low health literacy.
Of the 54 older people identified were observed 24, predominantly females, age
over 80 years and the pathology dementia, 61% of people were totally dependent and 26% had severe dependence.
In 73% of caregivers emerge necessities education in communication, security,
food, elimination and basics of first aid. Thus, in the face of ace educational needs identified in the graduate student developed a project to support and health education directed to caregivers of elderly in foster care - Travel Guide to care.
To achieve this work was fundamental for the student to know the various activities
in which the UCC is involved in terms of community empowerment. The importance of the partners in terms of health, education and social networking developed by UCC, in the multidisciplinary approach in a concerted action among all.
The specialist nurse in Nursing in the community is not enough to have knowledge of daily practice, it is essential to acquire the method and the scientific rigor in the acquisition of competences which will enable a complex approach to natural situations, and ensure the transfer of expertise to the daily practice.
