Abstract
This report displays the reflections of the entire route of acquiring skills throughout the internship and has as cross-thematic the promotion of child development and as grounding my practice through the Health Promotion Model of Nola Pender, which identifies the concepts through which the individuals adopt healthy behaviors.Child development is a process that goes from the conception and emerges in a continuous and orderly manner through which the child learns to master increasingly complex levels of action, thought, emotion and interaction with others, making it more competent in context of his life. To get results in development is extremely important the intervention of professionals, in the health promotion, and promotion of the development, and in the intervention into the families with preventive actions to support parenting, in order to provide to the parents the feeling of confidence and satisfaction in their role, so that they can offer the best conditions for the growth and development of the children.
In the diverse Internship locations, i set out to develop a systematic assistance to the child and family, which involved training of nurses on the promotion of child development. I did only the modules I and III, since i had credits for the Module II by previous professional experience in Internment Pediatric.
The Module I took place, initially, in the Development Consultation, and later, in a Family Health Unit, both in the Lisbon area, where i was intended to alert professionals to the importance of evaluating and promoting development, in the sense of, identify opportunities of intervention in the promotion of health and skills of every child; and identify early changes that justify referencing. The Module III took place in a Central Hospital of Lisbon, initially in the Pediatric Emergency, where was a challenge removing the focus atention only disease, and where were adopted strategies for full assistance centered on the child, promoting child development. subsequently, Module III was held in the Neonatal Intensive Care, where was given emphasis to the provision of care within a framework of development support.
Along this route reach the skills Nurse Specialist Health Nursing in Child and Youth, seeking to respond globally to the needs of the child throughout its life cycle.
