The involvement in healthier behaviours, as well as management of chronic diseases has been increasingly attributed as a responsability of an individual and its family. Self- management is a process in which childreen and teens develop a wide range of behaviours and skils that help them minimize the impact of their health condition in all aspects of their lives. This applies to childreen and teens as well as to their respective families or care takers. For a better understanding of the concept of self-management in the pediatric age range, a scoping review with title “The concept of health self-management in children and teens” was done. The results of this review showed that the involvement in self-management behaviours is associated to various benefits to the child/teen. These benefits occured both in the short and in the long term as well as in all their life dimensions. Nurses play a key role in supporting and educating health self-management by reducing risks and promoting conditions to suporto it. The goal of the following report is to critically describe and reflect on the learning path developed. Moreover, another goal set for to this report is to communicate the clinical results learned and the research apllied. An internship was carried out in three different intervention contexts: inpatient pediatrics, primary health care and pediatric emergency In each intervention context, an individual academic project was performed. Global and specific goals and activities to perform were set for each project as well as respective evaluation indicators. The common goal set for all aspects of the internships was: “develop skils of a specialist nurse in child and pediatric health nursing in providing nursing care to the child and teen and its family in the various contexts of interventionm with focus on supported child and teen self-management”. Nola Pender´s model of health promotion represents the vision of this report and sustained and guided the academic path followed. This vision was followed both in the teorical and practical sides of the specialized nursing care provided to the child and its family. This report includes an integration of knowledge and skils accquired and experiences lived throughout the learning path. All in all, these aspects broadened my vision in what concerns to the practice of children and its familily´s care. I became more conscious and capable of performing high quality nursing care, doing it more safely, profficiently and in a true partnership with the child and its family.
