Abstract

The promotion of child development is one of the focuses of action of the Nurse Specialist in Child Health and Pediatric Nursing because the child is a vulnerable being due to their human condition, which must be provided with favorable conditions for a global development as harmonious as possible, so it can reach its full potential. This work aims to develop practices that promote child development in all care contexts in order to reduce the negative impact of adverse experiences and enhance positive experiences. As well as providing care in a stable environment, sensitive to the child's needs, with protection against threats and with opportunities for early learning and responsive, emotionally supportive and stimulating interactions. This report aims to expose the learning obtained in the formative path and the consequent development and acquisition of skills of Specialist Nurse and Specialist Nurse in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing, through the descriptive, reflective and critical work methodology, supported by reflection on the practices and their confrontation with scientific evidence from nursing and other disciplines. In this training process, to theoretically support this problem and guide the study, I mobilized the Health Promotion Model of Nola J. Pender, integrating the philosophy of Family-Centered and Non-Traumatic Care, and based on a scientific body related to Care for Development. The activities developed responded to the transversal objective to the different internship contexts: to develop the competences of a Specialist Nurse in Child and Pediatric Health, in the promotion of care that promotes child development, as well as skills for providing advanced level care, in a logic of humane and holistic care, ultimately allowing the development of scientific, technical and human knowledge and skills specialized in child health nursing and pediatrics.
