This study aimed at assessing the Quality of Life in Patients with Familial Amyloid Polyneuropathy Type I (FAP) who have realized hepatic transplants at least at three years. After, we wanted to analyze the effects of psychopathology and some socio-demographic and clinical variables (Sex, Age and Profession After Transplantation) at quality of life of these same patients.In this project, we applied a socio-demographic questionnaire and two instruments: the Psychopathological Symptom Inventory – BSI validated by Canavarro (1999) and Quality of Life Questionnaire – SF36 v2, adapted by Ferreira (2000). The sample used for this study was consisted of 50 patients with Familial Amyloid Polyneuropathy Type I, subjected at least at three years ago the hepatic transplantation of the Paramiloidose Centers of Esposende, Barcelos, Vila do Conde and Braga.The results show that these individuals present a Quality of Life General and Mental satisfactory, being the lowest values in the Physical Component, particularly in the dimensions of the Physical Function and the General Health. Stands out again the fact that hepatic transplantation lead to an improvement Quality of Life of these patients, especially after the first years of the transplantation, keeping this long-term improvement, as verified at our study. Relatively at Psychopathological Factors, the factor that deteriorates the most the Quality of Life General is the Phobic Anxiety. Regarding the Socio-Demographic Variables and Clinical of the Sex, Age and Profession After Transplantation, which influences the Quality of Life of these patients is the Profession After Transplantation.
