Abstract

Prison is a place of imprisonment, with custodial measures (Rego, 2004) aimed at reeducation, resocialization and reintegration of individuals who committed crimes society and is therefore an essential good quality of life during that period. The criminalization of immigrants influences the characterization of prisons, as is reflected in the over-representation of this population in the criminal justice system. There are essential dimensions for the study the perception of quality of life relating to arrest depression, stress, isolation and quality of relations Bosworth and Kelezzi (2012). This study aims to understand if there are differences between portugueses prisoners and foreign to perception of quality of life on prison inmates, enhancing the quality of relationships and care of EP. The method was based on the quantitative perspective, using the Mann-Whitney test for differences noted. It was concluded that there are significant differences between the two groups regarding the quality of relationships with prison staff, inmates presenting foreign perception of lower quality of life. Relation to care provided by EP vulnerability in the face of explicit, there is only significant difference with regard to victims of domestic violence and also the difficulties of those who do not speak Portuguese.
